A Copenhagen club night asks producers to create 10 BPM dance music
"What will it sound like? Can I dance to it?"
Copenhagen-based artist Greta Eacott, a composer and founding member of G-Bop Orchestra, has put out a call for producers to make dance music at 10 BPM.
The open call asks: “If I make a dance club with music at 10 BPM will anybody come? What will it sound like? Can I dance to it? Will it be enjoyable?”
The answers to these questions are yet unknown, but Eacott is going to do her part to find out by playing the 10 BPM tracks at an upcoming club night. Producers have until September 25 to submit their music.
The criteria for submissions are vague. The material simply has to be 10 BPM: “Tracks don’t need to be ‘finished’, or of any particular length. Everything is welcome and will be put to the dancefloor. Only restriction is please keep to our strict 10 BPM policy. The night will last for as long as we have music for.”
