Claude Vonstroke debuts the first track from his Barclay Crenshaw project
Soothing sounds from the Birdmaster
Dirtybird label boss and iconic curator Claude Vonstroke has just released the first track under his new side project, Barclay Crenshaw.
The new moniker, which is his given name, and therefore an atypical alias to an alias, was announced earlier this year via Twitter. Crenshaw, who is a self proclaimed hip hop fanatic, created the sobriquet as a passage to explore his interests in the genre.
The debut track, 'Sleepy Kids' is a mellow, meditative piece reminiscent of dreaming sunsets, keeping in line with themes of hip hop and old school rhythms. It's extremely unexpected in comparison to his bouncing booty bass house Vonstroke canon, but a refreshing takeaway to his versatile production skills. 'Sleepy Kids' proves extremely fitting with Barclay's personal description of the project: "metaphysical slow jams".
