Carl Cox to launch new Australian festival

'Pure' will hit Sydney and Melbourne in April 2016

Fresh from releasing a trapped turtle back into the wild in Ibiza (which resulted in one of the best photos we've seen in a very long time), Carl Cox has announced plans to launch his own festival in Australia.

Speaking with inthemix, Coxy revealed the event, to be named 'Pure', would be hitting the southern hemisphere's festival calendar in April 2016 with a focus on quality house and techno.

"I am looking to build my own bespoke Carl Cox festival in Australia," he told the site. "We're looking to start this in April, and the first two cities we're going to do is Melbourne and Sydney. We haven't decided exactly where we're going to do them or who's coming to the table, but when we last spoke to all of the international DJs who are interested in being involved in our festival they've all said 'Yep, we'd like to do it'."

Cox will be in Australia later this year to give a keynote speech on his career and the future of the dance music industry at EMC 2015.
