London venue Cafe OTO is under threat of closure

Hackney Council plans to develop land around the beloved venue

Multi-purpose arts space Cafe OTO is under threat of closure.

Hackney Council is currently running a consultation on developing a number of sites around the venue in Dalston. This includes the site of its Project Space which is used by the community for workshops, performances, talks, film screenings and installations.

Cafe OTO is urging people to let Hackney Council know that the venue is an asset of community value and should be protected.

In a post on its website, the venue’s owners said: “This work has become an integral part of what we do at OTO and we are determined to keep it on the street.”

The deadline for submissions supporting the venue is this coming Sunday.
