BULTO celebrates its third anniversary with a massive techno party

BULTO - Colombia’s first queer fetishist techno collective - has announced its third anniversary party and accompanying line-up.

They’ve promised the celebrations to be extra large to make up for the missed two year party due to the pandemic, and have vowed to provide 12 hours of uninterrupted music from a plethora of female talent.

Opening the evening will be BULTO co-founders and residents Hypomania and Jesuz X, followed by a debut South American performance from Copenhagen’s Mama Snake, who heads up and curated audiovisual platform Amniote Editions.

Two special guests will join her in the shape of two members of New York’s feminist collective Discwoman: Akua, and Umfang.

There will also be local talent in the form of Venezuelian-born Amantra, who marks the beginning of her residency at BULTO via this set.

“Even if the party has grown and gained more attention each time, we want to remind our community that we were born as a DIY collective and we will keep defending that ethos,” Hypomania explains. “Of course the party will keep improving and getting more professional, but we still prefer it rowdy.”

“Our main purpose has always been the exposure and safety of our community. For queer people, raving is like a sanctuary where we can be free. That’s why we have made an effort in creating a safe space for everyone. We will keep fighting to makequeer talents more visible, not just in music but in all the areas of our society,” adds co-founder Luigi.

Jesuz X also notes the impact of the collective in wider society: “Since the inception of the collective we have seen something we like to call ‘the BULTO effect’, and it’s that suddenly a lot of straight collectives are talking about being fetish, BDSM, or even queer, without fully understanding the meaning of thosewords.

“And to be honest, we are not mad - we are actually happy to inspire change ina really conservative country like Colombia.”

Due to the annual nature of the event, BULTO emphasises that whilst the night is an uninhibited celbration open to all, BULTO is first and foremost a queer space and those who do not identify of such is a guest and should act as such.
