Broadwick Live unveil new open-air venue in London, Dockyards

The enormous cultural destination is set to open this September

A brand new open-air destination for raves, festivals and one-off events is heading to London.

Dockyards comes from the team behind some of the UK’s biggest venues, Broadwick Live has now unveiled a brand new "cultural destination" in central London.

Dockyards spans over 400,000 sq. ft. on the bank of the River Thames right next to London City Airport. Events are set to run here year-round, allowing organisers to adapt the space to however they see fit.

“We’re really excited to open Dockyards, creating a new centre of cultural gravity for London in the heart of The Royal Docks,” said Broadwick Live’s Group Managing Director, Bradley Thompson.

The venue overlooks the river in Silvertown Quays with a programme spanning the course of the year, the first of which is September's Defected London event.

The second event will take place just a weekend later - music, arts and culture festival Above & Beyond Group Therapy Weekender.

“Dockyards will shape the area through cultural and commercial innovation by bringing a year-round programme of events and activities in partnership with the world’s best,” said Thompson.

“As a Broadwick Live venue, visitors and artists are assured of a world-class experience, while we also deliver meaningful impact for the area and local communities.”

The expansive space is a clean slate for organisers to work on, and can also provide the backdrop for film shoots, cultural events, brand experiences, and more. Broadwick Live are also hoping for the new venue to bring in local talent and generate more jobs in the area.

Dockyards first event, Defected London, will take place from September 3 - 4. Find out more about Dockyards here.
