Bristol music venue The Crofters Rights to reopen as The Croft
The venue will reopen next month after landing support from Music Venue Trust's "Own Our Venues" scheme
Bristol pub and music venue The Crofters Rights has announced that it will reopen under a new name, The Croft.
Situated in Stokes Croft, the venue announced that it would temporarily close last year, citing a "multifaceted" range of factors behind the decision — the most pressing reportedly being a dispute with the building's landlord.
However, just over 12 months on, the team behind The Crofters Rights shared a post via Instagram yesterday (August 5), teasing a new era for the venue under a new name: The Croft.

The cryptic post features a tongue-in-cheek clip of "ninjas" entering the cobweb-ridden space, before zooming in on a reservation book that reads: "The Croft returns, September 12".
The announcement rounds out a difficult few months in securing the future of the venue, with owner World Famous Dive Bars running a campaign to "Save The Croft".
The Croft was named as a target venue in Music Venue Trust (MVT)'s "Own Our Venues" scheme, with the charity announcing its intention in May to purchase the venue to ensure its long-term survival — raising over £1 million to purchase it, alongside seven other grassroots venues.

"Since getting the keys, we’ve been hard at work breathing new life into one of Bristol’s most iconic venues," a statement on The Croft's website reads. "From floor to ceiling, The Croft is getting a fresh look — but without losing the gritty charm that made it a local legend".
"Doors reopen on September 12, and we’re kicking things off proper, with a stacked line-up of DJs and live artists rolling in over the coming weeks," they continue. "Expect big sounds, a few surprises, and a space built for memorable nights".
"Whether you're a long-time Croft regular or stepping through the doors for the first time, we're building something special, for everyone".
