Bloom - 8/10

Quartz (Rabit Remix) (Gobstopper)

Bloom's 'Quartz', originally released by Gobstopper in 2012, was the first record to really usher in instrumental grime's renaissance period (as it were), so it feels only right it'll see the light of wax to celebrate five years of Mr Mitch's label.

If the original wasn't mad enough - a gun-cocking, de-constructed powerhouse of a record that earmarked Bloom as a producer with the foresight to utilise space in grime instrumentals - there's a bonkers VIP edit thrown in and Tri Angle's Rabit delivers an earth-shattering remix on the flip too.

Scorched sounds, cluttered, industrial noise and a general sense of impending apocalypse are all textbook Rabit - a producer single-handedly redefining club music.

Wicked 12".
