BLOND:ISH are heading up the Ibiza Beach Clean

The duo want to promote a "sustainable raving ethos"

The club scene and environmental activism aren't the most natural of allies, but with levels of plastic estimated to outweigh fish in the oceans by 2050, Canadian duo BLOND:ISH are seeking change.

On August 21, they’ll be teaming up with International Music Summit, Casita Verde, Ibiza Preservation Foundation and Woomoon to spend an evening cleaning Playa d’en Bossa, along with island locals, activists and numerous other friends and DJs. The group will be meeting at BEACHOUSE, Playa d’en Bossa at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

BLOND:ISH have pioneered a sustainable rave movement over the last few years, triggered by some bleak realisations on tour.

They said: “We were playing in the main room at Warung Brazil at sunrise, in this beautiful moment, but when at 8am everybody left, they left behind them this mountain of plastic bottles. This vision devastated us. A beautiful sunrise in front of thousands of discarded water bottles.

“Chasing the sun and playing parties in paradise is next level amazing, but we all collectively unconsciously forgot about one important thing in our consumerism-driven society when moving from the city to the sensitive ecosystems of paradise... Single use plastics in our scene are not sustainable anywhere, they are killing the creatures in our oceans and disrupting our planet beyond comprehension. We want to change that and NOW.”

The pair will also play the Ibiza Preservation Foundation’s 10th anniversary on August 22, where all proceeds will go towards their constant conservation efforts.
