Bjork and Vivenne Westwood call for attention to climate change

Figureheads from fashion and music sign an open letter to world leaders

Designer Vivienne Westwood and singer songwriter Bjork have joined others in signing an open letter to world leaders asking for an "ambitious and inspiring international agreement" around climate change. The letter comes ahead of the United Nations Conference in Paris at the end of this month.

Other members of the 'creative community' to sign the letter are model Lily Cole, fashion photographer Kerry Dean and a host of other fashion designers including Bella Freud, Collette Dinnigan, Kamila Boudova and Max Osterweis.

The 600 word letter states the group is "deeply concerned" about the "irreversible climate change" that they feel is currently "overwhelming the planet's life support systems".

If the world leaders agree to their requests, they promise to use their position to enforce the policy. "In combining our collective strengths the creative community will amplify your commitments to positive change and strengthen the implementation of good policy decisions."

Good on 'em.
