Björk on Aphex Twin: "We still send each other songs all the time”

The Icelandic artist opens up in a recent interview

Icelandic legend Björk is recognized for her unique vocal chops and innovative talent, so it comes as no surprise that she has a longstanding relationship with fellow electronic innovator Aphex Twin.

The two artists previously toured together in 1995 and have remained friends ever since. In a recent interview with Red Bull Music Academy, Björk opened up about how they’ve continued to be pen pals.

“That’s what makes the internet so amazing as well. Me and Richard we still send each other songs all the time.”

Björk also elaborated on how Aphex Twin has helped her grow as an artist, supporting her music and showing her new gear: “Richard has always been incredibly supportive of me and has emailed me a couple of times and told me about equipment that he knew I would get into. For example, he told me about the Korg 4-track dictaphone that helped me a lot to make 'Medúlla.'”

Also found in the interview is a thought-provoking discussion about living in a utopia, which is the title of Björk's new album set for release in November.
