Biopic charting Snoop Dogg's life to hit cinemas next summer
'Snoop' will follow the rise of the "artist, mogul and gangsta rap icon that we know as Snoop Dogg"
The release date for an upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic has been confirmed.
As reported by Deadline, Universal Studios has scheduled the film, entitled Snoop, for release on August 6, 2027. The film is being directed by Craig Brewer, whose other works include 2005's Hustle & Flow and the 2011 remake of Footloose.

Set to feature music from Snoop Dogg's catalogue, Snoop is said to follow the rise of the "artist, mogul and gangsta rap icon that we know as Snoop Dogg", starring Johnathan Daviss - known for his role in Netflix teen drama Outer Banks.
Universal Studios hope to continue their run of successful hip hop movies, with the studio having been responsible for 2015's NWA film Straight Outta Compton and 8 Mile, the 2002 semi-autobiographical film starring-Eminem.

Snoop Dogg announced the film on-stage with Daviss at Universal Studios' Cinemacon at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, in April, telling the audience: "After my brothers got to tell their story with Straight Outta Compton, now it’s my turn."
Snoop will be the first film produced by Death Row Pictures, named after Death Row Records, the label that Snoop Dogg sold to an investment company in 2022, along with Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.
