Big Narstie is the latest to speak about lack of diversity at Brit Awards
He joins Lily Allen to have a pop at the British equivalent of the Grammys
Ahead of tonight's (February 24) Brit Awards, grime MC and Craig David collaborator Big Narstie has given his view on the lack of diversity.
Speaking to Channel 4 News, the 'Uncle Pain' host vented his frustration at the lack of non-white nominees, especially after the successful 2015 experienced by the likes of Skepta and Stormzy.
Narstie said: "Success of my career is made by a guy in an office who thinks he knows everything about the UK music scene because he's been sitting in this office for 15 years. But when was the last time you got turned up?"
With Drake, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd included in the International Male Solo Artist category, he goes on to say ceremonies like the BRITs should champion its own non-white artists instead.
"The only diversity in the Brits nominations this year is the Americans. I've said this for a while. For our country to do good, we need to embrace our country."
He also recalls times when record labels have rejected his music, branding it too 'urban'.
Lily Allen's another to have a pop at the awards, which take place at London's O2 Arena, saying the music industry is afraid of grime.
