Tresor Foundation expands "How To Run A Club" programme to global applicants

Run by the Berlin-based Academy of Subcultural Understanding, the programme hopes to establish the next generation of club pioneers

The Tresor Foundation is opening its club-angled training and educational programme to global applicants.

The next edition of its "How to Run a Club" programme, which is run by the Academy of Subcultural Understanding - the educational branch of the Tresor Foundation, which operates from within Berlin's Tresor nightclub - will be open to new and future club owners "from all over the world," Dean Dr. Martin Fuller has confirmed.

Founded in 2021 by Dimitri Hegemann, the Tresor Foundation Berlin was established with the intention of improving cities and communities by securing and supporting subcultural spaces. Hegemann is a pioneer of subcultural spaces, having founded Berlin Atonal and Tresor.

Now passing his knowledge onto the next generation, the edition offers three weeks of on-site seminars, workshops and hands-on experience in Berlin from September 14 to October 4. There will be online sessions every two weeks starting in July to prepare participants for their arrival, as well as being paired with a mentor from their region.

The curriculum is practical, participants can expect essential topics ranging from booking, door policy, business planning, financial sustainability, and advocacy – all taught by the staff at Berlin’s legendary Tresor and OHM clubs.

The programme is aimed at aspiring club makers aged 21-35 who are ready to open or have recently opened their own subcultural venues. The application involves a 60-second video and a one-page text outlining a vision. There are no fees, and the deadline is June 29. Find out more here
