Berghain doorman Sven Marquardt is heading to Ibiza
A two-week photography exhibition starts on August 15
Sven Marquardt, possibly one of the most famous bouncers in the world, will have his photography on show in Ibiza this month.
The Berghain doorman's work, taken over the last 30 years, will be exhibited at Hangar8289 in the Ibiza Art District from August 15 to 30. The photos are said to narrate "an intimate story about Berlin’s human reality".
The show's blurb goes on to read: "His atemporal and dynamically balanced compositions, hiding an unshakeable tension that emerge implacable in the gazes, offer, also thanks to the commingling with the sound dimension, a new, contemporary reflection about the ancient dualism between ethic and aesthetic."
Future's Past host the exhibition, curated by Gaia Ammirata, and Italian artist ÆQUAL will provide a soundtrack that "reworks millennial sacred music with synthesizers and drum machines".
Marquardt hosted work in Australia earlier this year and also released a memoir detailing his life in the German music scene last year.
