Berghain bouncer Sven Marquardt curates an experimental video playlist
Including music from Radiohead, Iggy Pop and Portishead
Sven Marquardt is Berlin nightlife’s most notorious gatekeeper - widely recognized for his position as the doorman for the German city’s legendary club, Berghain.
What many people don’t realize is that in addition to being a famous bouncer, the East Berlin native is also an accomplished photographer. Having released a memoir and exhibited artwork at numerous galleries around the world, Marquardt’s curation skills extend far beyond the club scene.
The German television station STRRR has recently done a profile on Sven Marquardt, asking him to pick out a number of experimental videos, movie clips and music which give viewers a closer look into the artist’s worldview.
“I’ve browsed through Youtube, my favorite video troves and film clips that have inspired me in my work and triggered feelings.”
The hour long video playlist includes music from Iggy Pop, Radiohead, Portishead, Nine Inch Nails and more.
