After a memorable collaborative LP with Doc Daneeka and a strong debut album a year later, Benjamin Damage returns to 50 Weapons for what will be the subsidiary label's 50th and final release. Comprised of a dozen productions, 'Obsidian' finds the Welshman once again contrasting chugging techno against plaintive electronica. This time, there's more emphasis on broken loops than the scaling percussion he's previously used to such sonic effect, but the assembly remains remarkably spacious.

The history books will note 50 Weapons for muscular futurism derived from Berlin's eventual acceptance of bass music – and Benjamin Damage's consistently engaging output for the imprint arguably exemplifies this better than anyone else.
