Beirut Synthesizer Center and Tunefork Studios collect funds for humanitarian aid in Lebanon
The Lebanon-based music organisations are raising money toward necessities for those displaced
Lebanon-based music organisations Beirut Synthesizer Center and Tunefork Studios have teamed up to launch a fundraising campaign to support humanitarian relief in Lebanon.
The crowdfunder will support displaced families in Lebanon following ongoing bombardment from Israel which has so far killed more than 2,000, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Lebanon’s government says that up to 1.2 million people have been internally displaced, while the OCHA says that the “humanitarian situation is deteriorating at an alarming rate”.
Beirut Synthesizer Center, a collaborative space for Beirut’s music enthusiasts, and Tunefork Studios, a music collective operating in Lebanon, launched phase one of the fundraiser on September 27, asking for donations which will go toward necessities for those displaced.
They explained that funds would go toward mattresses, blankets, pillows, food, baby formula, and sanitary supplies for those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Now in the third phase of fundraising, Beirut Synthesizer Center and Tunefork Studios announced that just under $60,000 has been raised so far, supplying bedding and basic needs to thousands.
“Overwhelmed with the support we’ve been receiving, especially from musician friends around the world,” they said in a joint statement on Monday, October 7.
“But the demand keeps growing, as more and more are displaced every day with Israel’s constant bombardment and evacuation orders in the South, the Bekaa and the Beirut suburbs.”
They thanked contributors for “generous” cash donations, as well as large donations of sanitary pads and solar batteries to keep operations going without power.
“Our team of volunteers is working tirelessly around the clock to provide the most urgent basics to the displaced,” they said on Instagram last week.
