Bandcamp users can now create playlists from their music purchases

The feature was promised following a take over from Epic Games in 2022

Bandcamp users now can create playlists from purchased music on the app.

This new feature had been previously promised by the company after it was taken over by Epic Games in April 2022.

This ‘Playlists’ option is only available on the app and on purchased music but allows users to organise tracks rather than separate them into albums.

Users can simply click on the new ‘Playlists’ tab and click the plus option to open purchased music that can be added.

Bandcamp’s announcement reads, “Can I create a playlist?”, responding with: “We’ve been waiting a long time to say this: yes!”.

Back when Bandcamp announced it was aiming to introduce this feature it said according to MusicTech that it wanted to “push development forward across Bandcamp, from basics like our album pages, mobile apps, merch tools, payment system, and search and discovery features, to newer initiatives like our vinyl pressing and live streaming services.”

Epic Games said at the time of purchasing Bandcamp: "Epic and Bandcamp share a mission of building the most artist-friendly platform that enables creators to keep the majority of their hard-earned money.

“Bandcamp will play an important role in Epic’s vision to build out a creator marketplace ecosystem for content, technology, games, art, music and more."

This month, Epic Games have enlisted Bandcamp to curate an in-game radio station for Fortnite.

The radio station is called ‘Radio Underground’ and is live until March 8 within the game.
