The Starmus science festival have chosen to honour Brian Eno's contributions to science, awarding the ambient producer the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication. The panel announced that the asteroid had been named after him during the ceremony in which he was presented with the award.
The asteroid previously known as 81948 (2000 OM69) has been renamed Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno, or ‘Eno’ for short.
Since his acceptance of the award, Eno has released a new track, ‘Capsule’, from his upcoming album, ‘Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks Extended Edition’.
