The iconic singer is coming back to her hometown with big plans
Legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin recently announced plans to move from her current home base of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan back to her original hometown of Detroit. With the upcoming relocation, she also wants to open her own nightclub called Aretha's.
"I'm interested in doing a small nightclub downtown, and [Bruce Schwartz] (Detroit relocation ambassador for Bedrock Real Estate Services) and I have been talking about this for a couple of years now," Franklin said in an interview with the Detroit Free Press. "In my retirement plan, I'd like to have a small club here in Detroit."
Franklin plans to make singing appearances at her nightclub from time to time and will also bring in other "special artists" and "Detroit favorites".
Bedrock President Dan Mullen has responded that the company is "excited" to work with Aretha on her upcoming plans for the Detroit nightclub.
