Apple announces full touchscreen iPhone X with Face ID and iPhone 8 with wireless charging
Three new models of iPhone come locked and loaded with new features
Apple fanatics, prepare for the next evolution of the iPhone: the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the brand new iPhone X (pronounced as "10") have arrived.
The physical appearance of the 8 largely resembles its predecessor, the iPhone 7. The main difference is that the iPhone 8 will have a glass back and will now come in a new color offering that looks like a mix between rose gold and regular gold.
The 8 comes with a brand new retina HD display and true tone technology. For music lovers, good news - the iPhone 8 has louder speakers this time around, with a 25 per cent boost in loudness and a deeper bass.
As usual, the new version comes with an updated camera, which will work better in lower light conditions and include some noise reduction technology. The 8 Plus will also come with a double camera too. The camera, partnered with a new A11 Bionic chip have been calibrated for augmented reality, allowing users to point their phone around and have a game or other experience unfold around them.
In addition, the iPhone 8s will now support wireless charging. The iPhone 8 will start at $699 and the plus at $799 and both are available for pre-order on September 15.
On the other hand, the iPhone X model comes with an entirely new physical design. Most prominently, it is entirely glass front and back with an edge-to-edge touchscreen display. The iPhone X will feature what's known as a OLED display, which is also known as the 'Super Retina Display', offering up more accurate colors, better image uniformity across the screen and more. This model comes only in space grey and silver.
With the removal of the iPhone's home button, the iPhone X will include Face ID, which will replace the finger lock security layer with facial scanning. The X model will be able to recognize users' faces from all angles, and with glasses, hats and facial hair.
