Aphex Twin is a 'Cheetah'

It looks like he's got a new EP arriving on Warp

Aphex Twin and Warp Records are up to their old tricks again.

Far from straightforward, as was the case for Aphex's 'Syro' album, a new seven-track EP has been teased through a magazine-type advert that's been received by record stores.

It reads: "The Aphex Twin 'Cheetah' EP uses digital sound generation techniques combined with wave sequencing technology to bring you sounds with movement and depth rarely found on records today. To assure you that your 'Cheetah' EP will give you many years of enjoyment, please be sure to read the owners manual carefully before attempting to operate the 'Cheetah' EP."

Inviting buyers to programme the EP themselves, Warp is asking for any "superb patches and tones" to be sent to them via a MIDI System Exclusive Dump on a disc.

Aphex Twin's 'Cheetah' EP releases on July 8 and will available on vinyl, CD, digital and cassette formats.
