An OAP has had his drum 'n' bass CDs and turntables confiscated by authorities

Sad times

Pensioners often enjoy a spot of gardening or a round on the golf course, but not one music lover from Kent.

Folkestone resident Peter Tuppen, believed to be in his 70s, has had his 300-strong drum 'n' bass collection and music equipment - including turntables - taken away from him after ignoring warnings from Shepway District Council.

Various noise complaints were made by neighbours, which led to a Noise Abatement Notice, but Tuppen refused to lower the volume of his beats.

Officers also said his music was "excessively loud" and counted a disco ball among the things they confiscated from his home, said to have been "wired up like a nightclub".

A council spokesman said: “We all love to enjoy our favourite music in our own home, and it’s great that most people will do that with no problem. But when one person’s loud music makes neighbours’ lives a living hell the council has no alternative than to step in.

"The level and frequency of the noise in this case caused a completely unacceptable intrusion into the lives of other residents of Stephen Court.”

Who's starting the petition to help him get his records back?
