Amsterdam welcomes new radio station, Echobox

The station started broadcasting last Thursday

After twelve months of preparation, a new independent radio station has launched in Amsterdam.

Echobox Radio will broadcast online each week from Thursday to Sunday, hosting a range of shows, from live music and mixes to podcasts and discussion-led formats. Three days will be devoted to live and local presenters, whilst the other one will feature sessions from those based further afield.

The team aims to promote a diverse and inclusive programme, with beginner and more established guests alike, including selectors, storytellers, institutions and organisations within the city.

They will also present one-off shows from artists and music enthusiasts passing through the area.

In order to make the space as accessible as possible, Echobox will provide training and in-house production guidance.

They have also issued an equality and diversity policy - promising to take complaints about racism, discrimination, bullying, harassment, victimisation or violence seriously.

The station hopes to welcome aspiring radio broadcasters and has put out an open call for show pitches.
