Amsterdam might be introducing strict sound limitations for festivals in the city

The city council is debating a proposed policy

Amsterdam City Council could be introducing strict sound limitations for festivals.

If the policy is passed, this means the sound for all large-scale events in the Dutch capital will be restricted to 85 decibels, in order to appease local residents.

A spokesman for the council said: "Organizers are now mainly concerned with how the sound sounds on the field. According to the new rules, they will also have to focus on the question of the effect of noise on the environment, and how to minimize the inconvenience.”

Amsterdam is currently home to festivals such as Dekmantel. However, as it's outside of the city centre, it's unlikely to be affected. Read our review of this year's Dekmantel here and check our 100-track playlist here.
