Amp Fiddler (Qwestlife Remix)
Time for J Dilla's teacher to step into the frame
As one of the most respected musicians on the Detroit scene, Amp Fiddler's legacy is unquestionable. He's credited with schooling a young J Dilla and Q-Tip in Akai MPC techniques and he's provided vocals and keys for many a Moodymann and Theo Parrish track.
He's a longstanding Funkadelic member and has also co-written tracks for Prince and Maxwell.
The new album 'Motor City Booty' is produced by Yam Who? and treats us to a variety of sounds from Motown to techno and neo-soul. 'Steppin' is one of the stand out tracks, a slab of P-funk supported by heads like Giles Peterson.
The Qwestlife remix takes vocals from the Dames Brown Choir, the original's jazzy synths and underlays a skippy beat to make a feel good house groove.
