Actress returns to Ninja Tune with a new album 'AZD'

Shares music video for the album's lead single 'X22RME'

British musician and producer Actress returns to Ninja Tune after three years with his fifth full length album titled ‘AZD’, pronounced “acid”.

Although many thought Actress had retired, that couldn’t be further from the truth as he’s been hard at work completing the forthcoming album, which promises to be “a chrome reflected journey into a parallel world.”

The album’s lead single, titled 'X22RME', pronounced “extreme”, is the first taste of new material and features a subtly harsh yet beautifully melodic techno motif, tiptoeing the boundary between gritty and elegant.

As described by Actress, the production process for 'X22RME' was anything but conventional: “I did fifty versions of the tune. Different parts were on tape, CD, different old computers and USB sticks, so it was quite intimidating to revisit and complete. The track was in the end built out of 3 hours of different passages”.

Along with the album, which is set for release on April 14, Actress has also developed a new live show to debut at Convergence, Village Underground on March 24.
