Abstraxion (Matrixxman remix)
Matrixxman adds extra crunch to Abstraxion's moody atmospherics
Abstraxion is the perfect name for Harold Boué’s genre-defying musical project. Working under this name, the French producer weaves disparate influences together to build up emotive, abstract soundscapes that thrill with their uniqueness.
His debut album ‘Break Of Lights’ landed in 2013 through Hakt Recordings, combing the styles of techno, house, disco and synth pop to create ten cuts of moody, melancholic electronica. Nicolas Jaar was an immediate admirer, licensing the LP for additional release through his Other People subscription service label.
The majority of Abstraxion’s work has come out through his own Biologic Records imprint, which is celebrating its ten-year anniversary in 2016. A series of releases have been lined up to mark the occasion, including a new EP from the man at the helm titled ‘Resonance’ that arrives backed with remixes from Matrixxman, Fort Romeau and Massimiliano Pagliara.
Matrixxman has made a striking impact upon the global techno scene in his relatively short career. His first solo release, 2013’s ‘The XX Files’ EP, contained the monstrous ‘Protocol’ which is a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer whether its drawn for in a tiny basement or at a vast festival stage. Owning it on a wax will set you back at least £40 based on current Discogs prices.
Since then he’s been called upon by labels such as Dekmantel, Unknown To The Unknown and Ghostly International, with the latter releasing his debut full-length ‘Homesick’ last year.
‘Resonance (Matrixxman remix)’ sees the US producer retain some of the immersive atmospherics of the source material with a revolving synth melody and heavy doses of reverb, but add greater weight with the underpinning of a crunching techno bassline. Listen below.
'Resonance' is out through Biologic Records on March 7
