A women-only venue will be open at Glastonbury
The Sisterhood will be situated in Shangri-La
A women-only venue, The Sisterhood, will be open at Glastonbury later this month.
It'll be housed in the Shangri-La area of the Worthy Farm festival, welcoming "all people who identify as women" and be a "disability-inclusive" space.
According to the venue organisers, The Sisterhood, described as a "revolutionary clubspace", is being opened to celebrate female identity in a world "designed to benefit mainly men".
"Oppression against women continues in various manifestations around the world today, in different cultural contexts. In the UK, the gender pay gap in the workplace, cuts to domestic violence services and sex worker rights are current talking points that highlight this issue.
"Sisterhood seeks to provide a secret space for women to connect, network, share their stories, have fun and learn the best way to support each other in our global struggle to end oppression against women and all marginalised people, whilst showcasing the best and boldest female talent in the UK and beyond."
DJs and live acts will be playing in the hidden space, with music selection spanning disco, bass, pop, riotgrrl, punk and funk.
A host of workshops, including one on DIY power tools, will be going down over the weekend, with a forum for black women, The Black In, booked for Sunday.
