9 vintage stereo photos that you probably wouldn't see these days
$17,995 for a system, anyone?
Public Collectors is a Tumblr page with a collection of vintage stereo system images.
Taken from The Hifi Book, a 1970s and '80s catalogue for stereo chain store Tech Hifi, the snaps are pretty chic, from human bunny rabbits dancing on stairs to a pair of rollerbladers beneath a disco ball. Let's just say it's unlikely you'll see anything similar these days.
The systems advertised didn't come cheap, either. There's one going for $17,995, although Public Collectors hasn't listed the brands, and a combination of JBL, Vector Research, Hitachi and Stanton priced at $1049.
Check all nine out in the gallery above.
