808 State are celebrating 30 years with a UK tour
Performing old and new material
Acid house pioneers 808 State are going on a UK tour to celebrate 30 years of existence.
808 State: 30 Live will see the band performing classics from their five albums, as well as introducing new tunes from their sixth album which is being recorded at the moment.
They'll kick off the tour on November 23 at KOKO in London, also visiting Hull, Portsmouth, Bristol, Norwich, Birmingham, Sheffield and Glasgow. Of course, the final show is in their hometown Manchester where they take over Manchester Academy. That show will run until 2am.
The band said: "It's been some 30 years now since we started out as 808 State and to celebrate we'll be taking to the road for a special UK tour at the end of the year.
"808 State: 30 Live will be a brand new live show, updated with new versions of material from all of our albums with a good dose of new material added from our new album we're currently working on, tracks from which will make their live debut."
They've asked DJ and producer Lone to join them at every date on the tour.
He said: "There was me and my mate Walshy when we first got into the hardcore rave scene back in 1996. He had a box full of tapes and videos at his house, which we used to go through, and one day, one we put on was 808 State's 'In Yer Face'. I put it on in my mum's car and it was then I realised it was possible to incorporate proper heart and melody in to the context of 'rave' music. That was my first big push and inspiration to making my own music.”
808 State's tour coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Summer of Love. Read our feature here.
Pre-sale tickets will be available on April 25 and general tickets will be available on April 27. Get tickets here.
