Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter performs surprise set for "no-phones" party Lost
The former robot played on a custom modular set-up for the surprise show in Basel, Switzerland
Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter made a surprise appearance at a show in Basel, Switzerland, over the weekend as part of the annual Art Basel celebrations.
Bangalter performed a one-off show at Messe Basel, an exhibition centre in the city, dubbed an "immersive experience" presented by event platform art.klub.
The show was also hosted in collaboration with London club night Lost, which until recently, held events in a shuttered Odeon cinema in Covent Garden, Central London.

Following the show on Saturday (June 20), Lost shared a teaser on Instagram stories, posting a photo of the sealed magnetic pouches used to lock up guests' phones with Daft Punk’s ‘Digital Love’ playing over the top.
While the event was only billed to feature a DJ set from Rampa, a special guest was also teased, later revealed as Thomas Bangalter as he appeared behind the booth on the night.
A video of Bangalter performing was posted after the show, seeing him play on a custom modular set-up featuring drum machines and analogue synths.

The event ran from 6:PM until 11:PM on the night, and featured a no-phone policy as upheld by Lost during their London shows in an effort to keep distractions off the dancefloor.
Lost also shared a statement on Instagram after the event, writing: "On Saturday night, we set up ‘no phones’ as part of Thomas Bangalter, Rampa and Julian Charrière’s Warehouse Artefacts night presented by art.klub."
"Following ‘no phones’ as part of Lost in London, we believe in making all cultural spaces phone-free," they added.
