Pete Tong brings BBC Radio 1 to Los Angeles
BBC Radio 1 makes its international debut
On January 22, Pete Tong made the monumental jump across the pond to bring BBC Radio 1 to the United States for the very first time. Making its debut in Los Angeles, Pete brought a stellar line up along with him for the live broadcast from EP & LP in West Hollywood.
Drenched in the warm, Southern California sunshine, the Hollywood Hills acted as the quintessential backdrop to the special showcase. Pete made it a point to discuss exactly why Los Angeles was the first to receive the International Mix edition, stating that the metropolitan has become a thriving hub of electronic music. Now home to some of the top talents in the industry and consistently on the receiving end of any number of noteworthy shows each day of the week, it's difficult to deny the powerful pull of the city.
The day was kicked off by MK and his special guest Becky Hill for a live premiere of their new collaboration, 'Piece of Me'. MK powered through the afternoon that would later see Jesse Rose, a b2b from Patrick Topping and Eats Everything, a special Essential New Tune performance from Riton and Eric Prydz, a native of Los Angeles.
The stream of International Radio 1: Live from Los Angeles is available for the remainder of the month here. Pete Tong will continue his American takeover when he sees BBC Radio 1 land in Miami on March 18 for Miami Music Week.
