New 1000-capacity nightclub opens in Nairobi, Koda
Located in the heart of Kenya's capital, the venue features a Funktion-One soundsystem and "cutting edge" lighting
A 1000-capacity music venue has just opened in Nairobi, Kenya.
Based in the centre of Kenya's capital, Koda is billed as a "two-room multi-faceted music venue" complete with "cutting edge light installations" and a Funktion-One soundsystem.
The venue officially launched earlier this month (September 7) with a party featuring a slew of local acts including Dylan-S, Foozak and Hiribae.

Set to open weekly on Thursdays, Fridays and until 6:AM on Saturdays, the venue's next event is scheduled for October 4 — a show headlined by Afro-house DJ AWEN, who will be joined by Vidza, Tina Ardor and more.
The new event space is located in the Westlands neighbourhood of the city, within the Kenrail Towers business centre and is dubbed on its website as “an odyssey of the senses”.
"With a focus on high-quality sound, lighting installations and a series of unique spaces to discover and connect with people, hear new music and get lost in our world," shares a spokesperson for Koda. "What matters to us is anyone who steps in our door has an amazing experience."

They add: "Musically, we want to showcase the special talent in Kenya, and invite global artists to not only perform but to immerse themselves in our culture and discover a vibrant music scene."
According to its Instagram page, the venue will serve food at the Koda Kitchen which is said to be opening soon.
