New SOPHIE track lands ahead of posthumous album, ‘Exhilarate’

The next single marks the fourth release in a matter of months, just ahead of her final record

The latest single from SOPHIE’s posthumous album has landed via Future Classic and Transgressive.

‘Exhilarate’, featuring Bibi Bourelly, comes just a month ahead of the release of her eponymous final record, titled ‘SOPHIE’, out on September 27.

The new track landed yesterday, August 28, and was designated BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record. It marks the fourth release from SOPHIE in just a matter of months.

‘Exhilarate’ was written by SOPHIE, vocalist Bibi Bourelly, and Dua Lipa collaborator Kennedi Lykken before SOPHIE’s untimely death in 2021. Listen below.

It follows back-to-back releases from the new record in July, which included ‘One More Time’ featuring Popstar, and ‘Berlin Nightmare’ featuring her former partner, Evita Manji.

In June, the first single from the posthumous record, ‘Reason Why’, appeared online from a social media account behind the ‘SOPHIE’ album campaign, MSMSMSM FOREVER, which previously teased cryptic clues ahead of the album’s release.

'SOPHIE' marks the second full-length album from the Scottish dance music pioneer, and the first following her tragic death in 2021.

In a press statement released last month, SOPHIE’s family confirmed that the record had been “close to completion” before her death, and has since been “lovingly finalised” by friends and family of the late producer.

“It feels only right to share with the world the music she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all connect with her in this, the form she loved most,” her family wrote.
