Ibiza institution Pikes to launch new weekly party, MONDAYS

Manumission boss Andy McKay says the parties will “nod to the past three decades” of Ibiza clubbing

Beloved Ibiza institution, Pikes, is set to launch a brand new party next month, MONDAYS, which will run throughout summer until the end of August.

Manumission boss and Pikes owner Andy McKay, formerly known as Andy Manumission, is the brains behind the event, calling it a "party focused on the people and the dancefloor”.

“Returning to my alter ego Andy Manumission has sent memories flooding back,” he said. “It’s great to remember the cultural significance of that Manumission era.”

Andy also said that MONDAYS will “nod to the past three decades” of Ibiza clubbing, and aims to “kick back against the DJ worship era”. “I feel the values of that time are missed, so let’s bring them back,” he said.

MONDAYS debuts at Pikes on April 29, and will continue to run through the summer season until August 19. The line-up will not be announced ahead of time, making it a surprise on arrival.

“For over three decades, Mondays in Ibiza have been revered as the best day of the week to let loose, live in the moment and go with the flow,” Pikes said on Instagram earlier this week.

“Celebrating rather than dreading the first day of the week is a cultural quirk that is unique to the White Isle, as like-minded partygoers and island residents alike come together to embrace the freedom of being in a Balearic paradise while dancing to the sounds of the world’s finest DJs.”

“It’s all about freedom. Go where the magic takes you,” they said. “Be whoever you want to be. It’s a party not a concert. An old kind of energy for the new Ibiza.”
