ASTRYD release new propulsive EP, 'Skin Hunger'

Their first release of 2023 comprises of four dreamy cuts

ASTRYD have returned with new music, sharing their new EP 'Skin Hunger' to mark their first release of 2023.

The four-track EP is forward thinking and genre-pushing, evolving from the 2021 'Blind Summit' release. Written and recorded in London throughout 2022, the tracks are bold and rhythmically complex with playful stabs, broken beats and pulsating basslines traversing through a variety of emotions.

Opener '404badpathway' kicks things off. A real dancefloor weapon, the track was tested at multiple shows following a three month residency in Japan. "It quickly became a favourite of ours basically based on how much audiences loved it," the Bristolian duo explain.

Also of note is titular track 'Skin Hunger'. It fizzes through its duration with broken grooves and distorted chimes, centred around a thick bassline.

Other moments within the EP are gentler and more melancholic, exemplified by closing track 'Buyer's Remorse' which meanders around a soft looping kick with synth melodies which later blossom into a skittish groove.

The 'Skin Hunger' EP is available on the pair's imprint Dialogue, an extension of the parties they've been running for six years across Bristol and London. Over this time, guests have included Loraine James, Giant Swan, object blue, Batu and Akua, with the eclectic selection of artists reflecting ASTRYD'S own sonic variation.
