Congo Natty announces his first album since 2015 titled ‘Ancestorz (Rootz Of Jungle)’, which is due to be released in August.

This album is accompanied by the release of a double single, ‘Athos / Jungle Defender’, which is out now through New State Records.

Following on from his seminal 2015 album, ‘Jungle Revolution’, ‘Ancestorz (Rootz Of Jungle)’ explores the genre of jungle, taking listeners through the rich socio-cultural origins and tales of how the beloved genre came to be as it is today.

With a career spanning over five decades, Congo Natty has seen jungle grow, shape and become one of the most popular and beloved sub-genres of dance music.

This upcoming album reflects this and represents sounds by the global diaspora, tapping into drum n bass, reggae, hip hop, jazz and more.

The 26-track album is described in a press release as Congo Natty’s “finest chapter yet”, and is said to be a personal journey which takes listeners through the sounds that have shaped the jungle legend.

Tracks ‘Athos’ and ‘Jungle Defender’ from the upcoming album are out now. ‘Athos’ is a raucous sound system-ready banger which features DJ and producer Fleck and lyricist Lij Tafari It’s guaranteed to get you moving and is a perfect addition to any summer season set.

However, ‘Jungle Defender’ taps into dub roots a bit further, filled with rhythmic drums and melodic beats. It features vocal work from Augustus Pablo’s son – Addis Pablo.
