'PRSNT' is a new compilation lasting 6 minutes 30 seconds featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto, Laurie Spiegel and more
It’s intended as a comment on our society’s attitude towards constant consumption
Ryuichi Sakamoto, Laurie Spiegel, Lafawndah, Visible Cloaks, Chassol, Lucrecia Dalt and more have contributed short tracks to a new compilation.
‘PRSNT’ is a project ‘which acts as a statement on how we, as consumers, engage with music in the 21st century’.

Each track lasts around 30 seconds, with the whole compilation lasting just six minutes and thirty seconds.
As a concept devised by Created By Us and the Barcelona-based label Modern Obscure Music, the ‘PRSNT’ compilation acts as a resistance to modern consumer culture. The project’s developers read a study identifying that the sheer amount of information available online at the touch of a button is shortening attention spans, thus changing how listeners engage with music.

The challenge presented to each of the artists involved was to create an ‘engaging composition with real artistic merit’ lasting just thirty seconds.
