A record 7.1 million people visited Ibiza this year

The island's biggest year to date

Official figures have been revealed for this year's attendance to Ibiza.

According to reports pulled from Diario De Ibiza, exactly 7,109,115 visitors were present in Ibiza in 2016, a 14.6 per cent spike from last year's demographics. Year after year, the island's tourism proves to bring a steady flow of economic gain and nourishes it's rich music culture, yet it seems the future of Ibiza's music scene is ever changing.

In 2016, super-clubs like Amnesia, Pacha and Ushuaia were raided by authorities, the globally renowned DC-10 was punished for noise level complaints at this year's closing party and the city's council announced efforts to ban future open-air venues. The iconic Space Ibiza also closed.

Seems that dance music fans and tourists seeking sunshine are still very much into the idea of an Ibiza holiday though!
