MIA has been slammed by her US record label for being "too positive".
The UK pop experimentalist will release a new album in April, but has been told to "darken it up a bit".
This is an interesting development seeing as how MIA is usually allowed free reign in the studio.
In an interview with Gold Coast Bulletin, she said: "I thought I'd finished it. I finished it and then I handed the record in, like a couple of months ago. It's like 'We just built you up as the public enemy No 1 and now you're coming out with all this positive stuff."
MIA's fourth LP, 'Matangi', will be out on April 15.
