Watch the Wax Tailor directed documentary on record store owner inspirations
A spotlight on the industry's passionate vinyl pushers
A new documentary directed by French producer Wax Tailor profiles the principal figures behind some of America’s most distinguished record stores.
Filmed while on his last US tour, Wax Tailor aimed at giving a voice to the members of the music community who are rarely heard. The new documentary, titled ‘In Wax We Trust’, features interviews with the owners of each store, focusing on what drives them to sell records in a world increasingly dematerialized.
Record shops he visited include Black Dots Records, Charlemagne Record Exchange, Hymie's Vintage Records, Jerry's Records, Luna Music, Madcity Music Exchange, Papa Jazz Record Shoppe, Record Exchange, Repo Records, Schoolkids Records and Wax’n’Facts.
The release of the documentary coincides with Wax Tailor’s new album ‘By Any Beats Necessary’, out now on Le Plan / Lab'Oratoire, and he is also giving fans a chance to win a special customized edition of Gramovox’s Vertical Turntable. Those who buy the album can enter by emailing proof of purchase by December 10 to [email protected]. Winners will be announced on December 12.
