Theo Parrish launches educational radio show for young people of color
W.O.K.E. stands for We Only Keep Evolving
Theo Parrish has announced a new radio show with his imprint Sound Signature focusing on music education for the self-aware and self-determined.
The production called W.O.K.E., which stands for We Only Keep Evolving, has been created as a response by Parrish to the lack of representation of people of color in today's programming landscape.
He explains: "Much of the radio programming we hear around the city and across the nation is not aligned with our visions of self-determination, community, and self-love".
The new show will educate listeners of all demographics, inspired by community and the need for alternative radio content: "We at Sound Signature wanted to produce a radio program that centers empowerment, history and the future. And want to make sure this music gets to OUR people".
In Parrish's announcement, he also calls on community centers, youth workshops and education outlets who share his values to get involved.
