The Jazz Cafe is celebrating its birthday with seven events

The Jazz Cafe will be celebrating its birthday with a succession of events between June 12 to 16.

This birthday week reflects the venue’s artistic drive: the electrifying Lebanese singer-songwriter Yasmine Hamdan (pictured) performs live on Tuesday (June 12) and Wednesday (June 13) while Saturday (June 16) is a more club-orientated offering. Details about that line-up are pretty scarce but the listing reveals a “Rhythm Section-affiliated loveable Kiwi duo” is headlining, which is a pretty juicy clue.

Bradley Zero's Rhythm Section also presents an event on June 14, with 30/70, Vels Trio and Laura Misch all performing, and DJ Maseo of De La Soul plays on June 15.

Since its reopening in May 2016, the Camden spot has long exceeded its moniker by booking artists who are as influenced by Miles Davis as they are by Mobb Deep or Mr Fingers, yet remain connected to jazz sounds and stylings.
