Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve has announced details for the score of his highly anticipated sci-fi blockbuster.

Although the film's soundtrack was supposed to be originally produced by Jóhann Jóhannsson - who Villeneuve has a long standing creative relationship with - Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch will now be the final composers on the score.

Earlier this year, it was reported that all three artists would be collaborating on Blade Runner 204. It's now confirmed Jóhannsson has left the project.

Hans Zimmer recently collaborated with Radiohead for BBC's Blue Planet II, scored the latest Christopher Nolan film Dunkirk and finished a two-month North American tour.

Wallfisch's most recent work included scoring two of 2017's biggest horror films It and Annabelle: Creation.

Both composers worked on 19 of the 24 songs scored for Blade Runner 2049, the soundtrack will also feature Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Lauren Daigle and release on October 5.
