Spotify Playlist: The weird, dark and soulful for the best workout you've ever had

Here at Mixmag, we aim to keep you loaded with playlists as regularly as possible.

It's time for the weekly additions to our coveted 'The Workout' playlist, a selection for our underground music fans who love to take sessions to the next level.

Curated by our in-house fitness fanatic and US Digital Content Editor, carefully picked through trial during her daily training.

The playlist is all about deep, burgeoning warehouse bangers, the exploration of dark textures and utilization of uplifting, soulful beats.

Together, the blend of elements creates a playlist masterfully designed to nourish focus, strength and perseverance.

This week, aphotic and multi-faceted techno comes from Thomas Schumacher, Dubfire, Patrice Baumel and Call Super. Feeding into those extra difficult reps is an array of surfaces and consistencies for an obscure and intruiging progression of energy.

Tessela's edit of Alex Smoke's 'Dust' and 'No Single Thing' by Hodge bring in moods of percussion perfectly fit for cardio, interval training or lifting.

Finally, the gem of the bunch is Purple Disco Machine's remix of Martin Waslewski's 'Clouds', an infectiously vigorous house anthem with spinning soul vocals and a massive bouncing beat.

'The Workout' also currently includes heavy hitters from Plastikman, Nina Kraviz, Maceo Plex, Audion, Âme and more.
