The Lab SYD marks its first birthday this Friday with a very special international performance by Dirty Bird Records lord Shiba San.

The inaugural Lab SYD broadcast kicked off with Basenji in December 2015, joining the existing worldwide locations in London, New York and Los Angeles. One year on from its setup, Mixmag’s fourth global spot for The Lab has not only established itself as a platform to showcase the best in Australian dance music (and special international guests), but it has sent a positive message around the world championing our ever-growing dance community and the huge talent pool within.

Despite the lock out law restrictions, Sydney is still home to a thriving nightlife scene and has exported some of the electronic world’s biggest breakthrough artists of the past few years. Over the last 12 months The Lab SYD has hosted 22 artists, including Bella Sarris, Busy P & Boston Bun, Late Nite Tuff Guy, DJ Craze, Mo’Funk and K.I.M (The Presets). There’s a lot to celebrate on this anniversary, and Shiba San is ripe to get the party pumping with his tough house beats.

Shiba San’s new EP ‘Up & Down’ is out on December 9th on Dirtybird Records. He just got back from an Asia and Europe headline Tour and is about to start his latest tour down under, with a stopover at Fiji's stunning Your Paradise festival.

This week's The Lab SYD will be broadcast live from 5:30pm (AEST) this Friday, December 9. You can watch the set in full over on our Facebook page and head to MixmagTV for the full Lab SYD Playlist.

The Smirnoff Sound Collective is all about bringing fans closer to the DJs, providing up and coming talent with a solid platform and throwing unique events where fans and artists can party together. Check out more from the Sound Collective here
