Richie Hawtin shows exactly how he plays the Model 1 in new video

Richie Hawtin's Model 1 mixer is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable pieces of DJ technology for complexity and wide ranging capabilities.

The PLAYdifferently machine only made its debut back in May, but has already taken a mass amount of artists under its belt as ambassadors. DJs like Nicole Moudaber, Loco Dice, Dubfire and Matador have all spoken to the Model 1's prestige as the mixer they've been waiting for.

Hawtin now shares a tutorial style video on exactly how he plays the Model 1, titled 'How I PLAY'.

Renowned for its ingenious six stereo channels, contour filters and dual-cue system for unparalleled back to back sets, the instructional piece gives insight into the incredible intricacy a Model 1 performance can have.

The 14-minute presentation touches upon channel capabilities, its wide range of effects, the art of simplicity and how Hawtin prefers his personal set up. It's straightforward and short but detailed enough to have one itching to give the Model 1 a go.
