Japanese producer Prettybwoy has been an advocate of the instrumental grime sound in Japan for years, even featuring on Big Dada’s polarising ‘Grime 2.0’ compilation in 2013, but on ‘Overflow’ he presents a lush, futuristic twist on some of his earlier output.

On the oddly fascinating ‘Vivid Colour’, a track awash with space, gorgeous textures and sharp, Bloom-esque zaps, he taps into instrumental grime at it’s weirdest, before taking things up a notch on arresting, aqua-themed drum track ‘Humid’.

‘Flutter’ showcases Prettybwoy’s rich and varied sound palette – think shards of glass flying into your subconscious – while title track ‘Overflow’ packs more of a club rhythm, boosted by classic 8-bar samples and bewitching drums.
